At Shannon Springs Hotel
Shannon Springs Hotel – Reducing energy consumption and our carbon footprint.
Energy Monitoring
The Shannon Springs Hotel introduced an energy management system to help reduce our carbon footprint through the implementation of energy-efficient measures.
The carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases generated by our actions and is directly linked to the energy that it consumes. By installing a new energy monitor system, we can actively manage the energy consumption at the hotel, continuously measure and control our usage which will lessen our environmental impact.
In addition, the introduction of this energy monitoring system gives us the ability to control every aspect of the hotel’s energy performance, such as HVAC and lighting enabling us to create a more comfortable environment for our guests.
Renewable Energy
Hotels consume a significant amount of energy due to the 24/7 need for electricity, hot and cold water, air conditioning, heating, and lighting. To offset our environmental impact, we installed 42kWp Solar PV system on the roof space of the hotel to generate renewable electricity. The renewable electricity generated here will also supplement the electrification of the heat system.
Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Upgrades
High efficiency air to water heat pump installed to replace existing oil-fired hot water heaters that had a high expense and environmental cost. The installation of the heat pump ensures guests will always have access to reliable hot water in their rooms.
This upgrade along with the installation of air conditioning in all the bedrooms is designed to reduce the fossil fuel use of the hotel by 90%.
The complete upgrade of the heating system will result in a reliably comfortable internal environment for the guest at the hotel.
