WILD ATLANTIC WAY

The Wild Atlantic Way is a 2500km (1500 miles) driving route, stretching from Malin Head in County Donegal to Kinsale in County Cork along Ireland’s western seaboard. It was launched in February 2014 by Junior Minister for Tourism, Michael Ring and it traverses the entire rugged and spectacular west coast of Ireland from Cork through counties Kerry, Clare, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.

Bunratty Folk Park

Bunratty Castle and Folk Park 6 Minute Drive

Bunratty Castle & Folk Park is situated in the centre of Bunratty village, approximately 7 minutes from Shannon Springs Hotel.
Built in 1425, Bunratty Castle is the most authentic medieval fortress in Ireland. It contains 15th and 16th century furnishings, tapestries & works of art that capture the essence of times gone-by.

Experience the Bunratty Folk Park where you can explore at your own leisure or join a guided tour bringing you from house-to-house around the charming village streets. Explore the stunning Bunratty Walled Gardens modelled from original Regency period which supplied fruit, vegetables and flowers to Bunratty House.

Cliffs of Moher 1 Hour Drive

Visit the edge of the world and experience an awe-inspiring view that must be seen to be believed. The Cliffs of Moher lets one encounter nature in its harshest and purest form. Tower above the rugged cliffs opposite the Atlantic Ocean, taste the salty sea air, listen to the birds echo in the wind and feel the prehistoric rocks beneath. Not just a sight to behold in Ireland, but notorious for its picturesque views across the globe.

Lahinch Beach 1 Hour Drive

A popular seaside resort just a ten-minute drive from the magnificent Cliffs of Moher, Lahinch is often referred to as the surfing capital of Ireland. Hosting a world-famous, golden blue flag beach, the submerging tide makes it the perfect destination for surfing, kite surfing and sea kayaking.

Beside the beach there is Lahinch SeaWorld and Leisure complex, home to fascinating underwater creatures including sharks, rays and conger eels. Before taking in these sights and experiencing the sandy shore, why not shoot a round of golf at one of the most famous 18-hole links golf courses.

Loop Head 1 Hour 30 Mins Drive

Immense cliffs stretch along the coastline on the Loop Head Peninsula. Experience magnificent scenery on a guided walk and learn about numerous historical and geological features along the route. The Heritage Trail is signposted and has an audio guide for those who like to take in local knowledge of the area. The journey between the tip of Loop Head and Ross Beach allows an opportunity to see whales and dolphins from the coast, as well as a variety of rare nesting seabirds.

Aran Island Day Trips

Commencing the 1st May 2019

Explore the Wild Atlantic Way from the Sea.

Take a spectacular drive through the Burren to Doolin, sail to the Aran Islands and cruise to the Cliffs of Moher before returning back to the Shannon Springs Hotel. 

This day trip combines the best of both worlds with a visit to the Aran Islands, a boat trip below the Cliffs of Moher and a visit to the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre.
